2. What on earth is intelligence?

Intelligence is a capacity to solve perceptual problems. "Perceptual" pertains to the properties individual, special, random, fuzzy, sensory, emotional and willing. To solve such problems needs accumulation, induction and inference of experiences to form new experiences. That definition is somewhat hard to understand, so the other expression is that intelligence simply must possess a capacity of automatic learning, accumulation of experiences and applying knowledge. As for the computer, it must have a capacity to optimize, expand and alter its existing programs and create new programs for itself, namely it must possess activeness or initiative as a subject. Intelligence can use general experiences or theories to solve special problems, and also induct individual experiences into a common theory.

Human behaviors can be divided into social behaviors and individual behaviors. The function of intelligence in human social behaviors is primarily to constitute social rules, explore and discover natural laws and adopt these, though not exclusive of individual wills and emotions. Intelligence acting on personal behaviors primarily conducts emotions and wills to deal with fresh tastes.

To explain the function of intelligence in human social behaviors, we can compare intelligence to a leader, manager, commander, doctor or judge while comparing computer programs to an obedient clerk.

At present, the computer does not have the capacity to experience and learn. Some computer programs are capable of memorizing the interactions between a user and a computer automatically, but that is just the continuation of programming by the user, because that process can not break through the function and goal of the programs. We can, however, consider it as embryonic intelligence. The degree of dependence on man-cyber interaction in the operation of the computer represents directly the level of the computer intelligentization.

The essence of digitization of the computer is purely rational, therefore we need to perceptualize it to make it intelligent or cyberbrain which is referred to as the intelligent computer. "Perceptualize" means that the brain of the computer or the cyberbrain is connected to its sense organs or input terminals through neural nets which can be even considered as to include the brain.

People's thoughts and behaviors have two aspects, rational and irrational. "Rational" shows man's representation of society and, correspondingly, "irrational" shows man's representation of anti-society.

Perceptuality is a buffer area between rational and irrational to conciliate the conflict between both, neither to violate social rules nor inhibit man's irrational desires. Only the perceptual way can locate the balance point of thoughts and behaviors between social responsibility and social oppress. The upper level of human emotion and intelligence, such as aesthetics and arts, and also scientific exploration and study, is the result of this perceptual way.
